Nuke began as the in-house compositing and effects application at Digital Domain, where its development team were awarded a Technical Achievement Award® from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science®.
It is an application focused on solving real issues faced by post production facilities all over the world and has been tried and tested on over 55 feature films and hundreds of commercials and music videos, including Speed Racer, Iron Man, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
This amperSAND event is designed not only for visual effects artists but also for editors, cinematographers, animators and general filmmakers.
Matt Leonard is Head of Training and a Co-Director at spherevfx an international training company specializing in highend 3D, Compositing and Visual Effects. He will explore how these new digital effects tools are revolutionizing film making today and enabling stories to be told in more imaginative and amazing ways using state of the art technology.

spherevfx is an international training company specializing in highend 3D, Compositing and Visual Effects. Their production driven courses are designed to help animators improve their skills, increase productivity and produce cutting edge effects work. Matt Leonard is Head of Training and a Co-Director at spherevfx. He has been in the 3D and visual effects industry since 1991 and has produced work for feature films, commercials and large corporate projects. He has been involved in setting up post production departments, overseeing small teams of animators and compositors, along with acting as CG Supervisor on a number of projects. Matt is listed on the IMDB (Internet Movie Database) for the feature film work he’s done and has had his work shown at various shows and festivals including Sundance Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. He has spoken at various events and shows on behalf of Alias/Wavefront (now Autodesk) and eyeon Software. Matt is acting Maya and Fusion Professor at fxphd.com, the leading supplier of online visual effects training. |
